Our energized Fairfield City Council plans to address the California Redevelopment Association on Gov. Jerry Brown's proposal to cut redevelopment agencies.
Fairfield's Daily Republic's article says:
An aggressive campaign' against the proposal is under way by Fairfield city staff. That could include press releases, formal letters to governor Jerry Brown and California legislators, sample letters for Fairfield businesses, voters and citizens and a Web page with information about Fairfield's proposal.
This sounds like a positive direction. But Fairfield forget one important thing?
What is the promise Fairfield City Council made to its citizens? It promised to complete the redevelopment of the main gateway into Fairfield downtown leading up to the new Solano County government building. The county building construction was part of the plan. Pennsylvania street was improved.
The moderately short stretch from Allan Witt Park (with the modern new pools just installed) to Pennsylvania already have plans paid for. Will the city try to keep it's promise? It's the only fair way to treat Fairfield's promise.
What will come to our Solano Redevelopment agencies in Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Suisun, Vacaville and Vallejo? They need Solano Redevelopment funds.
